Fun Stuff

I’m having a lot of fun in my grad school program at Marquette University. I often have the opportunity to create something related to mental health counseling that I think is pretty cool. I want to share some of the things I’ve made as examples of how mental health concepts and information can be designed to be useful and effective for the people who need the support.

Mental health zine for young adults

This is a ‘zine I made thinking about the unique needs of young adults who are transitioning from adolescence into adulthood. I imagined this sitting out at a local coffee shop in a college town and being picked up by someone who needed a break from their hectic day and phone. I hope this ‘zine would be a little escape for them and encourage them on how to care for their mental health. Take a closer look.

AI + Mental Health

I’ve been fascinated to learn about recent positive outcomes from combining AI with mental health care. I’ve helped create GenAI chat experiences and I have been hopeful for the technology to evolve into ways that would have meaningful, positive impacts on people’s daily lives. And, I think we’re seeing signs of that with adding AI support systems to therapy.

I currently live in a rural area where there’s a shortage of mental health providers, but also a strong stigma around seeking help. I could see this technology being transformative for communities like mine. You can view the 12 minute presentation online.
